The German Company, Carl Freudenberg and the Italian Company Corte and Cosso began their co-operation in 1936. The two companies signed a contract for the sale of Freudenberg products that were later produced under the license for engineering parts in leather. This also included the oil seal "Simmerring", with the Italian patent 319.529, distributed in Italy under the trade name "Corteco". In 1957 Corcos s.a.s was set up and the Pinerolo factory was built, manufacturing began here in 1959.


In 1971 the company became Corcos S.p.A. and subsequently, in 1980, Corcos Industriale S.p.A. In 1982 manufacturing began in the Luserna factory.

In the meantime, through new acquisitions and initiatives, Freudenberg became a multinational company with factories and commercial offices throughout the world. In 1995/96 the group was reorganised and Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik was created. Today, Corcos belongs to this group. Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik produces an enormous range of products: from seals to vibration dampers, from brake hoses to rubber articles for industrial uses.

  

In 1996 Corcos celebrated its 60th anniversary of co-operation with the Freudenberg group. Corcos had two factories, covering 20,000 square meters in total, more than 600 employees and an annual turnover of 73 Million Euro (2003).

Corcos in 2002 became the Lead Center for the “Cassette”, product designed, developed and manufactured in Luserna San Giovanni’s factory.

In 2003, following the above responsibilities of the LC Simmerringe Cassette, the Company is divided into four business units: LC Valve – Stem Seals, LC Simmerringe Cassette, Partner Production SI and Production Services. In 2005 the business units become 3: LC Valve – Stem Seals, LC Simmerringe Cassette, Partner Production SI which includes Services Production.

In 2006 the Company changes its business name to: CORCOS Industrial s.a.s di Freudenberg & Cosso s.r.l., corporation of the Freudenberg Group.

Also the 2007 is an important goal: in fact the Freudenberg act the project for the construction of the new Corcos in Pinerolo in the new industrial area “La Porporata”. The April 20 work began with the laying of the cornerstone.

In 2008 Corcos, at first belonging to the family Cosso 50% and 50% at Freudenberg Group, becomes 100% owned by the multinational Freudenberg. The new name is now: CORCOS Industriale s.a.s. di Externa Italia s.r.l. a socio unico, società del Gruppo Freudenberg.

During the months of November and December 2008 has been done the move of the establishment of Pinerolo from the old site in Corso Torino to the new industrial site “La Porporata” where from the 01.01.2009 is transferred the corporate headquarters of Corcos. In January 2009 then they start all work for the new site.

Starting from January 1, 2009 Corcos Industriale S.a.s. incorporates in its corporate structure of the production site Castelli Calepio (BG) as the Partner Production of the product O-Ring.

Corcos in late 2010 with a turnover of approximately € 100,000,000 and approximately 700 employees.
